— An iconic street symbol that can be found in almost every wardrobe: the blue jeans. Worn for more than 150 years, the garment holds an even more longstanding tradition. Curator Joachim Baan invited to participate in the exhibition Blue Jeans which took place in Centraal Museum from november ’12 to march ’13.
In response to my project Phase Book, we developed a spin-off concept for the portraits of the Denim Heads; a selection of vintage collectors and fashion designers. These individuals who are having ‘blue blood’ flowing through their veins tell you all about their passion for denim. For each portrait we gathered all kinds of stories and information such as handwritten texts, drawings, objects and a favorite denim. We designed the portraits as collage in a frame of 1 x 2 meters.
